Day 8 post attack
Based on the series of experiments between 1908 and 1910 done primarily by Geiger with help from Marsden, Rutherford published a landmark paper in 1911.
It was titled:
"The Scattering of alpha and beta Particles by Matter and the Structure of the Atom".
In this paper, Rutherford proposed that the atom at its center carries an electric charge that is very small and intense.
Rutherford in fact treated the center of atom as a point.
It was essentially a mathematical paper wherein he developed a mathematical model on the pattern of scattering of alpha particles on the ASSUMPTION that all the positive charge and most of the atomic mass was concentrated in the center of the atom.
Rutherford acknowledged in the paper that both a negative charge or a positive charge at the center could explain his scattering model.
He would need more experimental data to prove his hypothesis of central positive charge.
I hope u got an idea how exacting a genuine scientific work needs to be.
That is why a scientific truth is special.
Only in acknowledging this can we prevent our brain from deceiving us which is a terribly faulty judgemental and decision making equipment.
