September 3, 2016 Saturday
Today the constable submitted the police report.
Seems the report is well written as claimed by the appointed public prosecutor.
From our side, Rameez Sheikh was present.
A date was given for September 27th.
Opposite party's lawyer asked for a copy of the police report.
The judge said it was not his right to see it.
But to have a copy, he would need to apply for it.
Bedtime Story
Eddington and the stars
Let me take you back to Arthur Eddington of Kendal.
He was a pioneer in investigating the interior or the structure of the stars.
Now we know that the stellar evolution starts with the gravitational collapse of giant molecular cloud.
A molecular cloud is known as a stellar nursery that typically extends 100 light years across and can contain up to 6,000,000 solar masses.
The molecular cloud comprises of generally molecular hydrogen in contrast to other interstellar space that mainly consist of ionized gases.
Eddington was one of the first astrophysicist who suggested that stars are a sphere of gas that are held up against gravity by internal thermal pressure.
He also showed that radiation pressure was necessary within the stars to prevent their collapse.
He worked out the mass-luminosity relationship of the stars thereby building up a thermodynamic model of the interior of the stars.
This quite unexpectedly showed that nearly all stars behaved or could be modelled as ideal gases.
The other thing for which Eddington gained popularity was for his outstanding promotion and dissemination of the Theory of Relativity.
He was the Einstein's Rottweiler. (Even though Germans were a hated lot by the British those days).
Eddington was one of the first few people in the English speaking world to have enough mathematical knowledge to understand the implications of the theory of relativity.
I say English speaking world because even without the giant telescopes that were available in America (thanks largely to George Ellery Hale) and data coming from them, mathematicians and theoretical cosmologists in Europe had already laid the foundations of relativity.
Without ever being aware of its impact on the understanding of the real universe.
I will name some of them in my next bed-time story.
Eddington was not only the greatest expositor of the theory of relativity but was also the first to subject it to experimental verification.
You see mon ami, even Einstein is not taken for granted.
He is subjected to the same rigorous scrutiny as would be you or for that matter I.
Stay tuned to the voice of an average storytelling chimpanzee or login at http://panarrans.blogspot.in/
Good night mon ami and my fellow cousin ape.
