Bedtime Story

A much sought-after mathematical physicist in America

Excess men tend to remain both unskilled and under educated and thereby unemployable and thus most likely to end up in the army (imagine a mother with 6 boys in a hamlet in Russia or Poland or anywhere for that matter).

They become the perfect cannon fodders for ambitious rulers, their deaths carefully disguised as noble patriotism and martyrdom.

All throughout the sorry state of human history and civilization this has been demonstrated adequately enough repeatedly and verifiably.

This is one of the papers on population and conflict.

The references listed in the end of this paper have their own tales to tell.

So the Anna Karenina Principle states a very simple fact of life.

There are millions of ways to have the chaotic state or failure but extremely low probabilistic way or ways to be successful or have order.

Speaking about probability of chaos and order, one can’t help recalling two great men, the American Willard Gibbs and the Austrian Ludwig Boltzmann (both were mathematical physicists).

They both showed mathematically that the second law of thermodynamics or the “entropy law” is a statistical fact.

Which we can translate for nation states and societies that it far more probable for them to be a failure than to be a success.

Hans Bethe was in a way running away from the nation that was planning its own destruction by exterminating its greatest resource, the German Jew intellectuals.

When Hans Bethe landed in America in 1935 he was already secured as a faculty member of Cornell University and teamed up with M. Stanley Livingston, the co-inventor of cyclotron.

Now please try to understand the greatness of America and how it valued intelligence.

Hans Bethe, a German migrant and a mere mathematical physicist was approached or rather was poached by no less than 6 American Universities:

Columbia University

Princeton University

University of Rochester

Purdue University (state of Indiana)

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Harvard University

You must remember that in 1930s, most nation states or the empires of the world (including the Great Britain which was slowly beginning to fade away) did not even have the infrastructure and capacity to exploit a mind like that of Hans Bethe while in the United states there was felt a scarcity for top class mathematical physicists.

Stay tuned to the voice of an average storytelling chimpanzee or login at http://panarrans.blogspot.in/

Good night mon ami and my fellow cousin ape.

Another great educator and teacher that I am aware of is Professor Subhashish in Bangalore, India.

While I narrate stories, he actually does and teaches real mathematics and physics.

He started the participation of Indian students at the International Physics Olympiad.

Do visit him here:

All his books can be downloaded for free through this link.

For entertainment may I suggest Kids Songs channel.
