Bedtime Story
1/4th of Sphere is Equivalent to 3/4th Sphere
So now we have categorized each of them separately.
All the points that were rotated via sequence of left rotation have
been assigned one color and in sequence appear something like this:
L, LL, LLL, LLL…
LU, LUU, LUUU, LUUUU…
LD, LDD, LDDD, LDDDD, LDDDDD…
LUL, LULL, LULLL, LULLLL…
LDL, LDLL, LDLLL, LDLLLL…
LDR, LDRR, LDRRR, LDRRRR…
Now note an interesting point.
This same sphere (with all Lefts) when rotated right is equivalent
to adding one right move in all the above moves.
Example
RL, RLL, RLLL, RLLL…
RLU, RLUU, RLUUU, RLUUUU…
RLD, RLDD, RLDDD, RLDDDD, RLDDDDD…
RLUL, RLULL, RLULLL, RLULLLL…
RLDL, RLDLL, RLDLLL, RLDLLLL…
RLDR, RLDRR, RLDRRR, RLDRRRR…
By a similar analogy, instead of adding R, if you take out the L
letters, you will end up with all the positions that begin with up and downs.
As you can see, just with the set of left directed points, we end
up with all the decompositions of rights, ups and downs points.
In short, from just ¼ of all the points (all Lefts) we end up in
getting ¾ of all the points (all Rights, Ups and Downs).
Now the problem of poles and the center still remains.

Another great educator and a teacher that I am aware of is
Professor Subhashish Chattopadhyay in Bangalore, India.
While I narrate stories, Professor Subhashish an electronic
engineer and a former professor at BARC, does and teaches real mathematics and
physics.
He started the participation of Indian students at the
International Physics Olympiad.
